The lack of substantial rainfall this morning has led to increased instability this afternoon. Severe weather threats have increased.


Partial clearing is allowing for storms to fire northwest of Cincinnati.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Central Indiana
Northern and Western Ohio
Lake Erie

* Effective this Wednesday afternoon and evening from 145 PM
until 900 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include…
Widespread damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2
inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY…Thunderstorms are expected to intensify along a weak cold
front, spreading southeastward across the watch area. Scattered
severe storms are expected, with damaging winds and hail possible.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 10 miles east northeast
of Youngstown OH to 10 miles west of Terre Haute IN. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

REMEMBER…A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION…A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector

A couple nice days then a very active weather pattern comes back with severe storms and flooding rains possible.

After 2 nice days to start the week, the weather becomes quite active again. Strong to severe storms are possible from the middle Mississippi and Ohio Valley vicinity toward the mid-Atlantic states on Wednesday.

In addition to the severe thunderstorm threat, locally heavy rainfall will raise flash flood concerns, especially from Thursday afternoon through Saturday.
