Heavy rain and severe storms possible

Showers and thunderstorms will develop later Saturday and Saturday night.  Rainfall of one-half to one inch is possible along with a slight chance of severe thunderstorms.  The National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook follows:

AS A COMPLEX STORM SYSTEM LIFTS NORTH ACROSS THE REGION LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT…THERE WILL BE THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.

NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

Much warmer, but then…

A big warm-up will be kicking off today and continuing into next week, but winter is not finished with us.

Temperatures may make a run at 70 Saturday.  The next 7 days will likely lead many trees to bud.Â

By the middle and end of next week, it appears another push of arctic air will try to take over.  If it makes it as expected, we could be in for another extended period with lows well below freezing, so sensitive flowers such as magnolias could be in trouble.
