Hot July To Follow A Hot Start To Summer. Drought Outlook Not As Clear

After a record hot May and a hot first half of June, the July weather outlook has just been released by the Weather Prediction Center and it is looking hot compared to normal over much of the country. It is also looking wet in the southeast and dry in the Pacific northwest.

A generally hot pattern appears likely for the rest of meteorological summer, which wraps up Labor Day weekend. July is climatologically the hottest month of the year with the third week of July being the hottest week of the year on average. In many areas, the hottest month could be even hotter than it usually is.

Drought is expected to improve in much of the southeast US but develop in central Texas and much of New England.

Overall, there are not clear indications of very dry or wet weather in Cincinnati. With the overall pattern looking hot, even a week or two of dry, hot weather could lead to drought stress.
