As of early February, the beginning of the last month of meteorological winter, the temperature forecast is close, but with colder temperatures in the northeast. The precipitation forecast has not been as good. Yes, it has been dry in the south but the above normal precipitation in the Ohio valley is not verifying,)

 Arbor Doctor thoughts: For the Ohio valley, it looks like the winter of 2017-2018 will have seasonably normal temperatures on average and frequent, above normal precipitation. Normal temperatures will support the chances for snow and ice, while above normal precipitation would enhance that. Ultimately, it all depends on the storm track but this winter could see some notable snow and/or ice storms. The snow vs. ice vs. rain forecast is somewhat uncertain since we could end up with frequent ups and downs in temperature. One of those typical Ohio valley winters where we are constantly near the rain-ice-snow transition zone. Since last winter’s temperatures were well above normal, this winter could feel much colder.
